Turn an Oval Box with a Sphere Lid with Tod Raines

This project creates an oval box by laying out an oval pattern based on a rectangular block of wood. I will share the layout and turn on three center points to create the basic shape. A little non-turning work to finish up the shaping. Finally, to add a bit of drama to the form a hook tool is used to create the sloped rim detail. I will turn a sphere, using my ‘between center practice cut ‘method, which makes a perfect style of lid for this oval box.
