Waterfall Natural Edge Burl Lidded Container, part 1 of a 2 part series

    Apr 18, 01:00 PM - 04:00 PM (ET)

Create this elegant flowing form with a Lid and Finial! In this first session, I will select the burl and cut it to give the piece a balanced natural edge. The contrasting wood Pedestal is fitted to the piece, and finished in a Collet Jam Chuck.   Part 2 covers shaping and fitting the lid, Finial turning, and finishing. Learn my favorite burl coloring method using transparent dyes. Get a more vivid color by bleaching, and explore topcoat options.  Sign up for both parts to get the complete project.

Welcome to our Remote Demonstrations Calendar!

The remote demonstrations listed on this calendar are presented independently by AAW member demonstrators. If you have questions about a specific demonstration or how to register, please contact the demonstrator directly.

DEMONSTRATORS: We accept your event submissions at a cost of $25 per event. Submit your event information at least two weeks in advance. We post events as quickly as we can (within 72 hours, or earlier) on our events calendar. We will share each of your events in at least one Beyond the Bevel email listing prior to your event. Click here to submit your event.

CHANGES/CORRECTIONS: Click here to notify AAW of listing changes and/or corrections.

SAFETY

Safety is your responsibility. AAW recommends the use of face shields whenever the lathe is turned on. And, while AAW encourages demonstrators to use proper safety practices during their independent demonstrations, AAW is not responsible for enforcement of safety practices. Read "Safety When Instructing on the Lathe."
