Hello Everyone,
I am a long time wood worker and builder of custom home. My father was a general contractor and when he decided to retire I took over and continued up to about 6 years ago. Now I'm semi retired working about 9 months of the year the rest of the time I spend traveling in around the county in an RV.
I have built cabinets and many furniture pieces over the past and had a small Jet 1014 lathe with several tools I purchased from a retiring furniture maker, I never used until November 2025. I never turned a piece of wood in my life until then and fell in love with it. I since purchased a 2436 Oneway and more and more tools, chucks and well, you now the deal. I love to create and shape the wood and watch it pop to life.
I have an idea to buy a toy hauler RV or a motorhome with a trailer so I can put the lathe in and build a small shop in to be able to take the whole set up with me and turn while I'm on the road. Has anyone done this and if so do you have any helpful tips?
