I am a pipe welder by trade but have had a love4 for wood just as long as I have welded. I got into turning about 5 years ago thinking I was just going to turn a few knobs and handles. I am addicted to turning now, bought a larger lathe and want one even bigger. I turn everyday. I really enjoy segmenting as it lets me make anything even if I don't have a single piece as big as I need, I can just glue more pieces on to get what i need. I really like taking a beautiful piece of wood, split it adding a segmented section and glueing back together. The sandwich affect always makes a unique item.
